3D Taster Retreat - "Come and experience the future of the church!"
Church leaders today agree that our best efforts to attract newcomers to our churches tend to produce a community of religious consumers rather than fruit-producing disciples. A growing number of people today are coming to realize it’s time to reconsider the programmatic, attractional approach to ministry so many of us have relied on in the past. It’s time to find new ways to engage our postmodern culture with the true disciple-making, Kingdom-advancing movement Jesus began so long ago.
3D Ministries is uniquely equipped to do just that. Our team has adapted methodologies proven in post-modern Europe for maximum effectiveness in the North American context. We are inviting you to join a community of leaders on a two-year journey called a “Community of Learning” where you can rediscover the DNA of Jesus’ call to build a discipling culture in your church. We would not expect you to invest in this kind of journey without a “test drive,” so we invite you to sign up for one of our three-day Free Taster Retreats. You cover your travel and lodging and we take care of the rest.

Who will lead the 3D Taster?
Mike Breen will do most of the teaching, but it’s a team effort! All of the 3DM team are experienced practitioners in discipling, planting, leading, and multiplying missional communities.
Who is the Retreat for?
The retreat is for senior pastors and one or two key member of their team. The size of your church, denominational affiliation or network doesn’t matter.
What will it cost?
You are expected to cover the cost of your travel and accomodation although we negotiate deals with local hotels. The Taster Retreat itself is free; we provide all your food and refreshments during your time with us.
Dates and Times?
- Jan 6th – 8th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. (Wed 2pm – Fri 2pm)
- Jan 12th – 14th in Torrance, California. (Tue 2pm – Thu 2pm)
What is the purpose? What should I expect?
A 3D Taster is designed to give leaders "a taste" of the range of resources and tools 3DM use in equipping/empowering/resourcing leaders to disciple others and engage effectively with today's culture. The retreat is packed with quality input and the processing is led by experienced practitioners, Huddle and extended Q and A are an integral part of the three days. 3D Taster Retreats function as extended family, so there will be lots of time to eat, laugh, process and get to know each other.
How are you expecting me to respond?
Some church leaders decide that they want to join one of our 3D Communities. Some churches/networks/denominations prefer to tailor a bespoke package of coaching and 3D communities that directly addresses the needs of their church/network/denomination. Some simply purchase resources and take the tools and inputs back home with them. Everyone has a great time!
What are the main teaching inputs?
Each day has a key teaching input is then unpacked and processed –
- The DNA of the Bible - Covenant and Kingdom, our theological foundation; Lifeshapes and key applications including Huddles and Mid-sized communties.
Commission and the call upon our lives as leaders to make disciples rather than
consumers.
3. Releasing Missional Communities - We explore the cultural earthquake that has
shaken the foundations of modern western society and consider how to release
missional leaders to respond to this challenge.
